Advent denim jacket (sort of)

I am the Imelda Marcus of jackets. I own a staggering number and yet still have nothing to throw on when I need to go to the shops. The majority are just way too smart. Gorgeous, stylish, well cut beauts. But still just a bit much for your average day to day mum activities. No one needs to see a pea coat at a Zone 3 baby gym. I also love them just a bit too much to tolerate sick stains all over them. Nothing else for it - need some new threads.

Hello, I am unable to take a selfie but I can pout. Do you like my jacket?

To be fair I do have a parka which is kind of the ideal for this situation. Except, well, I've kind of gone off it. And I think it has gone off me. I just don't really suit parkas which is a shame because they are not only cool but also highly functional. But what can you do? No use flogging a dead horse.

So, I actually came across my rodeo rider's shrug whilst I was browsing for dungarees. I have now tried on nearly 10 pairs which is a lot of to and fro-ing from the post office - thanks ASOS and Topshop. Again, I don't know what it is because I bloody love dungarees. They just do very little to flatter me and in all honesty make me look like a bit of a twat.  Hang on, maybe that's not the dungarees......

Thankfully, every cloud and all that. Whilst clicking on yet another bit of Topshop denim I came across this lamb kebab of a denim jacket. Anything with a sheepskin trim always reminds me of a 70's porn star vibe - no particular reason.....

The jacket is clearly an all rounder (Borg, denim jacket - to give it its full title). Black/grey in colour (check - I already have a blue one), fleecy lining (check -good for winter but can carry me through to spring), comfy (check), ideal if vommed on (check), reasonable price at £58 (check) and RIGHT UP MY STREET!

I ordered the size 10 and 12 as you never quite know with Topshop. I also went for the 'tall' range. Not because I am particularly tall (5ft7) but because often their jackets (denim and leather - i am talking to you) come up a bit short. That's fine if you don't mind revealing a toned flank. Mine aren't toned, and I do.

I'm probably a size 11 in this jacket but opted for the 12 as I am perennially cold and will always be wearing a chunky knit underneath this I suspect. I could also do the 12 fully up with room to spare, whereas the 10 was a bit tight. So actually, I've established that I'm a size 12. Not an 11. Shit.

Unfortunately I can't work out how to use the timer on my camera and get a shot in focus. I also can't, as yet, train my 4 month old daughter how to do it. This is not ideal for clothing shots - you end up with a blur or a heavy amount of pouting and a picture of the camera. Both are an uncomfortable result but I'm working on it. In the meantime enjoy the jacket. Available from Topshop as we speak. Hurry, as no doubt there will be a stampede after this post.
